U.S.-India Joint Research Training Program
Research Training in Global Infectious Diseases
The Global Infectious Diseases Training Grant on Research on Intracellular
Pathogens is aimed at enhancing research and training on intracellular pathogens
and the diseases they cause, with an emphasis on Malaria, leishmaniasis, and
Tuberculosis through advanced training opportunities for Ph.D.
students and postdoctoral scientists, specialized workshops, and

This project is led by Dr. Kenneth Stuart
(Seattle Biomedical Research Institute), joined by co-directors Dr. Rentala Madhubala (Jawaharlal Nehru University - JNU) and Dr. Marilyn Parsons (Seattle
BioMed).

New trainees and faculty added

Drs.
Christoph Grunder (Seattle BioMed) and
Deepak Gaur (ICGEB) have joined our project faculty
and will be available as mentors for collaborative projects.

Workshop photos

The Seattle-India Joint
GID Training grant hosted 30 scientists and junior Faculty for attendance at
the 4th Workshop of the "Research Training on Intracellular
Pathogens" Program which took place at the International Centre in
Goa, India, February 2-7, 2010. The workshop
involved five days of activities including bioinformatics
training, grant-writing exercises, round table discussions
on research ethics and lectures on current research by GID
consortium faculty from Seattle and Delhi. Students and
postdoctoral scientists will also presented their recent
findings in poster sessions.

New Application Cycle announced!

The Research Training on
Intracellular Pathogens program is now accepting
applications from promising Indian Postdoctoral Scientists
and Ph.D. students for advanced training in Malaria, Leishmaniasis,
Tuberculosis, and other intracellular pathogens.
